India, Nov. 15 -- India has become the world's 6th largest patent filer, recording over 64,000 patents, with more than 55% from resident innovators. Union Minister Jitendra Singh attributed this growth to improved policy support and an evolving innovation ecosystem.
The country has also advanced from rank 81 to 38 in the Global Innovation Index, reflecting a strong focus on science and technology. Singh highlighted India's scientific milestones, including Chandrayaan-3 and a DNA vaccine.
He emphasized the importance of public-private partnerships and initiatives like INNOTECH'25 in fostering entrepreneurship and skill development, while also encouraging breaking away from traditional career paths.
