India, Dec. 7 -- The Ministry of Civil Aviation of India instituted a cap on domestic airfares to manage the surge in ticket prices following disruptions at IndiGo, resulting in cancellations and limited capacity.

The fare limits, ranging from Rs 7,500 to Rs 18,000 based on route lengths, are set at Rs 7,500 for flights up to 500 km, Rs 12,000 for 500-1,000 km, Rs 15,000 for 1,000-1,500 km, and Rs 18,000 for distances over 1,500 km.

Exclusions include business class and possibly premium economy fares. The government aims to monitor fare compliance and has mandated IndiGo to expedite pending passenger refunds and address misplaced baggage within 48 hours.
