New Delhi, Dec. 2 -- Over 1,825.62 MW of rooftop solar capacity has been installed on 91,574 government buildings across various Central ministries and states/UTs in India.

The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy has urged states/UTs to utilize vacant rooftops for solar panel installation, part of the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana initiative.

Notably, no Central Financial Assistance (CFA) is provided for government buildings due to their financial viability in this regard. In contrast, individual households can receive CFA up to Rs 30,000 per kWp for the first 2 kWp and Rs 18,000 for additional capacity.
