India, Jan. 1 -- Union Minister for Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw announced that the first Vande Bharat sleeper train will commence operations between Guwahati in Assam and Howrah in West Bengal this January.

The complete trial, testing, and certification have been finalized, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi set to inaugurate the train. This development marks a significant milestone for Indian Railways and intends to introduce major reforms in 2026, focusing on passenger-centric initiatives. Benefiting districts include Kamrup Metropolitan and Bongaigaon in Assam and multiple regions in West Bengal.
