New Delhi, Dec. 2 -- Ethanol Blended Petrol (EBP) Programme has generated over Rs 1,36,300 crore for farmers from 2014-15 to October 2025, according to Minister Suresh Gopi.

This program has saved Rs 1,55,000 crore in foreign exchange, reduced CO2 emissions by approximately 790 lakh metric tonnes, and substituted over 260 lakh metric tonnes of crude oil.

Additionally, the country's sugar production for the 2024-25 season exceeded demand, with 340 lakh metric tonnes available and 34 lakh metric tonnes diverted for ethanol.

This diversion has stabilized sugar inventories and ensured timely payments to farmers. Further, maize production increased by nearly 30% from 2021-22 to 2024-25.
