India, Feb. 5 -- The Ministry of Cooperation, in collaboration with the Department of Fisheries, is promoting small-scale fishermen's participation in deep-sea fishing and value-chain development through the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY), backed by a funding of Rs 20,050 crore for FY 2020-21.
This initiative aims to empower traditional fishers by providing financial support for acquiring and upgrading deep-sea vessels, and enhancing fishing cooperatives and Fish Farmer Producer Organisations (FFPOs).
