India, Feb. 21 -- The Centre on Friday announced the release of over Rs 137 crore to support rural local bodies in Goa, Meghalaya, Sikkim and Uttarakhand during FY 2025-26 under the 15th Finance Commission grants framework.

The allocations include untied grants from different financial years aimed at strengthening panchayati raj institutions (PRIs).

For Goa, Rs 11.6 crore was released as the second instalment of untied grants for FY 2023-24 to eligible district and gram panchayats. Additionally, Rs 2.98 crore - the withheld portion of the first instalment for the same year - has been disbursed to newly eligible panchayats.
