Bhubaneswar, April 8 -- A study by researchers from CSIRO in Australia and the University of Toronto in Canada revealed that very minute, an amount of plastic equivalent to a garbage truck's load is dumped into oceans. Astaggering 11 million tonnes of plastic waste currently litter the ocean floor.

Dr. Denise Hardesty, a Senior Research Scientist at CSIRO, emphasized the importance of these findings, saying, "This is the first estimate of how much plastic waste ends up on the ocean floor, where it accumulates before breaking down into smaller pieces and mixing into ocean sediment."
