Bhubaneswar, Oct. 6 -- In a move to reduce road accidents caused by a shortage of trained heavy vehicle drivers, the Odisha Government has decided to establish three new Institutes of Driving Training & Research (IDTRs) in Angul, Sambalpur, and Koraput districts. Each centre will be developed at an estimated cost of Rs 25 crore.
The Commerce and Transport Department has written to the Collectors of the three districts, urging them to include the IDTR projects under the District Mineral Foundation (DMF) Rules. The department has also submitted a proposal to the Planning and Convergence Department to approve funding for these projects from DMF resources.
