Salipur, June 1 -- A polling agent and his supporters were critically injured in a violent clash at two polling booths in Salipur Assembly Constituency in Odisha's Cuttack district.

The poll violence occurred at Booth No. 184 and 185 at Mala Sasan area in Salipur, which comes under Kendrapara Parliamentary Constituency. The victims were admitted to the Salipur CHC for treatment. The incident triggered outrage at the polling station.

According to reports, a BJP's polling agent and his supporters were attacked with a 'paniki' (a traditional cutting instrument used in the kitchen) for allegedly opposing booth capturing by a group of people belonging to the BJD at the polling station.
