Bhubaneswar, April 27 -- With the heatwave conditions prevailing across Odisha, the IMD issued a red alert for the state's twin city Bhubaneswar and Cuttack for today.

According to Bhubaneswar MeT, the heatwave conditions are likely in Cuttack and Bhubaneswar cities today.

By 11.30 AM today, the mercury touched 40 degree Celsius in five places. While Jharsuguda was the hottest place at 41.4 degree Celsius followed by Bhubaneswar 41.2 degree C and Keonjhar 40.6 degree C, Balasore recorded the maximum temperature of 40.1 degree C and Sambalpur Rs 40 degree C.

The IMD predicted that the heatwave conditions are likely to continue across Odisha till mid-May.
