Bhubaneswar, March 30 -- Huge setback for the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) in Odisha as the party's general secretary Priyadarshi Mishra quit the party today.

The former MLA from Bhubaneswar (North), Priyadarshi Mishra, resigned from the primary membership of the BJD citing 'continuous neglect' in the party.

Priyadarshi, the son-in-law of former Bhubaneswar MP Prasanna Kumar Patasani, had started his political career in his student days with the late Biju Patnaik. He was elected to the State Legislative Assembly in 2014 elections.

Serving the BJD for more than three decades, he deserted the conch party ahead of the ensuing 2024 elections.
