India, July 14 -- In the wake of the self-immolation attempt by a female student of Fakir Mohan Autonomous College, the Regional Directorate of Education instructed all colleges across Odisha to implement stringent measures to prevent sensitive incidents on campus.
In a directive issued to college principals, the Directorate emphasised the immediate formation of Internal Complaints Committees, as mandated by the University Grants Commission (UGC), without any delay.
The letter further instructed institutions to ensure round-the-clock surveillance through in-house squad teams and CCTV monitoring systems. Education authorities were also told to proactively take necessary steps to avert any potential untoward situations.
