New Delhi, Feb. 7 -- Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari on Friday said that the Narendra Modi government will soon be announcing a major relief for commuters on the toll that is currently levied on vehicles plying on National Highways.

He said that the government is working on a uniform toll policy to benefit national highway users.

"Our research has been completed and the scheme will be revealed soon," Gadkari told NDTV.

The minister also said the government is working on rolling out a global navigation satellite system (GNSS)-based toll collection system on national highways which will do away with the need for barriers that have been set up for collecting tolls. This would lead to a smoother flow of traffic on ...
