Bhubaneswar, April 24 -- Two persons, including a minor boy, drowned in Mahanadi river while taking bath near Jobra anicut in Odisha's Cuttack city today.

The deceased have been identified as Pinkun Jena (22) and Sai Behera (14) of Jobra area.

According to reports, Pinkun, Sai and Bishwajit Das (13) of Nadikula Sahi along with some others went to take bath in Mahanadi river near Jobra anicut in the afternoon.

While bathing, the trio ventured into deep water and went missing in the river. On being informed by the locals, Fire Brigade personnel reached spot and rescued Pinkun, Sai and Bishwajit in a critical condition.

The trio was rushed to the hospital, where Pinkun and Sai were declared dead on arrival.
