India, March 3 -- Washington-based Wild Coast, LLC. dba Wild Coast Raw is recalling frozen Boneless Free Range Chicken Formula raw pet food for cats due to potential contamination with Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza, or HPAI, H5N1, also known as bird flu, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
H5N1 can be transmitted to animals eating contaminated product.
The recall was initiated after testing by the Oregon Department of Agriculture detected the same H5N1 strain in both affected cats and the products tested by the Washington State Department of Agriculture or WSDA.
Wild Coast Raw and the WSDA are working together to identify and address the source of the issue.
