India, June 4 -- Transcontinental Inc. (TCL_A.TO) announced a profit for its second quarter that increased from the same period last year

The company's earnings totaled C$33.8 million, or C$0.40 per share. This compares with C$15.9 million, or C$0.18 per share, last year.

Excluding items, Transcontinental Inc. reported adjusted earnings of C$48.2 million or C$0.58 per share for the period.

The company's revenue for the period rose 0.1% to C$684.1 million from C$683.2 million last year.
