India, April 24 -- The Shyft Group, Inc. (SHYF) surged 20.27 percent to $8.81, gaining $1.48 during Thursday's trading, after reporting improved financial results for the first quarter. The company posted sales of $204.6 million, up 3.4 percent from $197.9 million a year ago.
The stock opened at $9.01 and has traded between $8.09 and $9.20 today, rising from the previous close of $7.30 on the Nasdaq. Trading volume reached 468,000 shares, well above the average of 263,000.
SHYF is currently trading above its 52-week low of $6.82 but remains far from its high of $17.56.
Net loss narrowed to $1.4 million, or $0.04 per share, compared to a loss of $4.7 million, or $0.14 per share, in the same quarter last year.
