India, June 26 -- South Africa's producer price inflation eased in May to the lowest level in six months, Statistics South Africa reported Thursday.
The producer price index rose 0.1 percent year-over-year in May, slower than the 0.5 percent gain a month ago. Further, this was the weakest increase since the current sequence of growth began in December 2024.
Prices for coke, petroleum, chemical, rubber, and plastic products alone showed a decline of 6.4 percent, and those for paper and printed products slid by 2.9 percent.
The annual price growth in electricity and water eased to 10.8 percent from 11.2 percent in April, and the growth in mining prices moderated to 2.8 percent from 4.1 percent. Prices for intermediate manufactured goods gr...
