India, July 23 -- South Africa's consumer price inflation accelerated to a four-month high in June, Statistics South Africa reported Wednesday.
The consumer price index rose 3.0 percent year-on-year in June, faster than the 2.8 percent increase in May. This was the highest since February, when inflation was 3.2 percent.
On a monthly basis, consumer prices gained 0.3 percent.
The main positive contributors to the annual inflation were housing and utilities, food and non-alcoholic beverages and alcoholic beverages and tobacco. The annual house price growth for goods increased to 2.3 percent from 1.8 percent, while services inflation edged up to 3.7 percent from 3.6 percent in the previous month.
