India, June 26 -- Indian shares may struggle for direction in early trade on Thursday as investors monitor oil prices and await the outcome of the highly anticipated meeting between Presidents Donald Trump and Xi Jinping set for Friday and Saturday.

Trading may turn volatile later in the day as traders roll over their positions in the F&O segment on the eve of derivatives expiry.

May fiscal deficit data and infrastructure output numbers due on Friday and the new Modi government's first budget on July 5 also remain on investors' radar.

Benchmark indexes Sensex and the Nifty rose around 0.4 percent on Wednesday to extend gains for a second straight session while the rupee rose by 21 paise to close at 69.15 against the dollar.
