India, Feb. 7 -- OpenAI is exploring locations in 16 U.S. states to establish a network of high-powered data centers, extending beyond its flagship site in Texas.
This expansion is part of Stargate, a joint venture with Oracle and SoftBank, championed by President Donald Trump. The initiative seeks to invest $100 billion initially, with the potential to reach $500 billion, to strengthen the nation's AI infrastructure.
The company has issued a request for proposals and has begun evaluating sites in Oregon, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin, along with 13 other states. OpenAI envisions constructing five to ten large-scale campuses, each requiring substantial energy and water resources.
