India, May 28 -- Malaysia's producer prices decreased for the second straight month in April, figures from the Department of Statistics showed on Wednesday.

Producer prices fell 3.4 percent year-on-year in April, following a 1.9 percent decrease in March.

Among sectors, the price index in the mining sector plunged 17.8 percent from last year versus a 15.0 percent decline a month ago. Prices for the manufacturing sector dropped 2.8 percent, and those in the utility segment showed a marginal fall of 0.6 percent.

On a month-to-month basis, producer prices slid 1.0 percent in April, following a 0.5 percent decrease in the prior month.
