India, Feb. 12 -- The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention noted that cases of measles have been significantly increasing in at least five states in the U.S., particularly among the unvaccinated people.
The upward trend in measles cases was observed in Alaska, Georgia, New York City, Rhode Island, and Texas.
According to the Texas Department of State Health Services data, a measles outbreak has resulted in atleast 24 cases in Gaines County, located in the western region of the state.
"Due to the highly contagious nature of this disease, additional cases are likely to occur in Gaines County and the surrounding communities," the department said on its website.
