India, April 9 -- China announced that it has increased additional tariffs on products imported from the United States to 84 percent. The retaliatory measure, to counter the 104 percent tariffs that the U.S. Imposed on Chinese products on Wednesday, will come into force on Thursday, the Customs Tariff Commission of the State Council announced.
China is hit by the highest import duty by the United States among the largest suppliers of goods to that country. It came into force after China refused to yield to President Donald Trump's deadline to withdraw its own 34 percent retaliatory tariffs on U.S. goods.
