India, June 27 -- Brazil's unemployment rate decreased in the three months ending in May, figures from the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics, or IBGE, showed on Friday.

The jobless rate dropped to 6.2 percent in the March to May period from 6.6 percent in the February to April period. During the December-February quarter, the rate was 6.8 percent.

In the corresponding period last year, the unemployment rate was 7.1 percent.

The number of unemployed people was 6.8 million, falling by 12.3 percent, or 955,000 people, compared to the same quarter of 2024.
