India, May 9 -- Borussia Dortmund GmbH & Co. KGaA (BVB) Friday announced a sharp fall in third quarter earnings compared to last year. On a pre-tax basis, earnings were down from the prior year.

The quarterly earnings were 12.9 million euros compared to 48.9 million euros last year. Earnings before tax was 14.5 million euros, down from 52.2 million euros a year ago. The company said the decline in earnings were due primarily to a reduction in net transfer income, which was down 53.6 million euros on the figure in the prior-year period.

Consolidated EBITDA was 88.3 million euros, lower than 119.8 million in the prior year.

Consolidated revenue rose by 38.6 million to 393.3 million euros from 354.7 million euros last year.
