India, April 14 -- Blue Ridge Beef is recalling Kitten Mix and Puppy Mix due to contamination with Salmonella and Listeria, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

The recall was initiated after a customer reported of animal illness. The New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets collected product samples on March 20.

On April 1, the company was informed by the North Carolina Department of Agriculture that the products tested positive for Salmonella and Listeria.

The recalled products include 1,080 lbs. of 2 lb logs of Kitten Mix with Lot # N26 0114, and 1,380 lbs of their 2 lb logs of Puppy Mix with Lot # N25 1230. Both products were available in clear plastic packaging.
