France, April 1 -- Italy's Jannik Sinner rose on Monday to second place in the tennis world rankings following his straight sets win over Grigor Dimitrov to claim the Miami Open.

The 22-year-old beat the Bulgarian 6-3, 6-1 on Sunday evening to lift his third title of the season following victories at the Australian Open in January and in Rotterdamin February.

"I'm very happy to be in this position," said the Italian after securing the crown in Miami for the first time and a second victory at a Masters 1000 tournament which are considered the most prestigious titles on the circuit after the four Grand Slam events in Melbourne, Paris, London and New York.
