Police raid ex-French PM's office in Le Havre as part of corruption inquiry
France, April 3 -- French police have searched the mayoral offices of former French Prime MinisterEdouard Philippe as part of a preliminary probe into possiblecorruption and financial wrongdoings.
Former French Prime MinisterEdouard Philippe is cooperating with authorities, his office said on Wednesday, after police searched his office premises aspart of a preliminary probe intopossible corruption.
Philippe, the mayor of Le Havre, is widely seen as apotential candidate to succeed Emmanuel Macron in the 2027French presidential election.
The search is reportedly part of a preliminaryinvestigation opened in December 2023 on charges of influencepeddling, favouritism, misappropriation of public funds andpsychological harassment.
