France, Jan. 23 -- The NGO Human Rights Watch hasdenouncedmurders, deaths in custody, enforced disappearances, and acts of torture linked to the clampdown againstanti-governmentsdemonstrations by the authorities in October.

On 20 October 2022, some 60 people died -mainly young people shot dead in the capital by the authorities -during an opposition demonstration againsttransitional presidentGeneral Mahamat Idriss Deby Itno's decision toprolong his stayin power for two more years.

According to the Human Rights Watch report published this Monday, security forces fired live ammunition at demonstrators, killing and injuring dozens, beat people, chased them into houses and arrested them.
