France, June 10 -- French carmaker Peugeot is facing prosecution in France over the "Dieselgate" emissions cheating scandal, its parent company Stellantis has said,after similar charges were announced against Renault and Volkswagen.

The Judicial Court of Paris has also summoned Citroen and FCA Italy, two other Stellantis subsidiaries, to appear in court over the coming weeks as part of the same investigation, the company said in a statement on Wednesday.

The US-European auto giant said Peugeot was under investigation "on allegations of consumer fraud in connection with the sale of Euro 5 diesel vehicles in France between 2009 and 2015".
