KATHMANDU, Aug. 21 -- Advocate Birendra KC on Thursday filed a writ petition at the Supreme Court (SC) demanding that Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli be ordered to seek a vote of confidence in Parliament.
The petition comes after the Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) withdrew its support to the government on July 16, 2025. According to Article 100 of Nepal's Constitution, the prime minister must table a vote of confidence within 30 days of a coalition partner withdrawing support. Failure to secure a majority would result in removal from office.
