KATHMANDU, July 8 -- The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has arrested a ward chair from Rupandehi with a bribe amount of Rs 300,000.

Janardan Yadav, the chair of Marchawari Rural Municipality-3, was caught red-handed along with a businessman involved in receiving the bribe. The arrest was made by a team deployed from the CIAA office in Butwal on Monday.

According to CIAA spokesperson Rajendra Kumar Paudel, Ward Chair Yadav demanded a bribe from a service recipient in exchange for recommending payment after the completion of various development projects within the ward.
