KATHMANDU, Nov. 16 -- The number of people visiting election offices to register their names in the voter list has declined after the Election Commission (EC) enabled voter registration through the National ID system.
According to the EC, the pressure at registration centers had increased earlier, prompting the EC to introduce National ID-based registration.
Since then, in-person registrations have decreased while the number of new voters has begun to rise. Following the announcement of the upcoming elections, more than 285,000 individuals have already registered at election offices across the country, while over 200,000 people completed their registration through the National ID within just three days.
