WASHINGTON, Sept. 12 -- The US Foreign Relations Committee senators have called for maintaining peace in Nepal through democratic means.

Issuing a statement on Thursday about the recent political development in Nepal, senators Jeanne Shaheen and Chris Van Hollen said, "The incidents of violence, loss of lives and arson that occurred in Nepal lately are not acceptable. We extend deep condolences to the families of those killed during the recent protests."
