KATHMANDU, March 27 -- Dean R Thompson, the US Ambassador to Nepal, had a courtesy meeting with Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Chairman Rajendra Lingden at the RPP Central Office in Dhumbarahi this morning.

During the meeting, various issues of bilateral interests were cordially discussed. RPP Chairman Lingden inquired about discussions in the US Congress regarding US investment to spread atheism in Nepal.

The ambassador clarified to Chairman Lingden that the US has not made any investment to spread atheism in Nepal and has no policy to do so. He also emphasized that the US policy aims to support religious harmony and unity in Nepal, including the return of stolen idols from Nepal to be restored in their respective temples.
