Nepal, March 27 -- A trekking guide on the Manaslu circuit has died while leading a group of tourists around the eighth highest peak in the world.

According to the District Police Office (DPO) of Gorkha 54-year-old Sarki Sherpa from Sotang Rural Municipality-4, Solukhumbu, lost his life during the trek.

Sherpa collapsed near the riverbank in Dharche Rural Municipality-3, Khorlabesi, sustaining a severe head injury. He was immediately taken to Dharche Basic Hospital for treatment but succumbed to his injuries, said Deputy Superintendent of Police Indra Prasad Subedi.

Sherpa was working as a guide for an American tourist through INFO Nepal Trekking Agency. The DPO stated that further investigations into the incident are ongoing.
