KATHMANDU, Sept. 1 -- Foreign tourist arrivals in Nepal surged by 22 percent in August 2025, compared to the same month last year, according to the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB).

This August, 88,680 tourists entered Nepal by air, while the figure stood at 72,717 during the same period last year.

Of the total arrivals, 40 percent (35,505 tourists) came from India, making it the largest source market. China followed with 7,533 visitors (8.5 percent), while the United States contributed 6,068 (6.8 percent), Sri Lanka 5,956 (6.7 percent), and Bangladesh 4,262 (4.8 percent).
