Three Star beats Urjen in sudden-death to reach semis
PHUNTSOLING, Feb. 17 -- A-Division outfit Three Star Club has advanced into the semifinals of the ongoing Jigme Dorje Wangchuk Memorial Gold Cup football tournament with a 5-4 sudden-death win over Urjen Football Club of Bhutan in Phuntsoling on Saturday.
At the Phuntsoling Sports Academy Stadium, Three Star goalkeeper Alan Neupane saved two Urjen penalties to send Three Star into the last four.
The match was pushed to the penalty shootout directly after the teams failed to find a winner playing a 1-1 draw in the regulation time. The extra time was omitted due consistent rain which led to the lack of light.
The game went to sudden-death after the teams could not find a winning goal in a 4-4 draw.
