Nepal, April 30 -- Vijay Chauthaiwale, head of the Foreign Affairs Department of India's ruling BJP party, arrived in Kathmandu on Wednesday for a three-day visit.

He landed at Tribhuvan International Airport in the morning. The exact purpose of his visit has not been officially disclosed, but sources say he may hold political meetings during his stay.

His visit has drawn attention as it comes at a time when Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has not extended a formal invitation to Nepal's Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli for an official visit.
