KATHMANDU, Dec. 5 -- The Supreme Court (SC) is mulling to set strict criteria for conferring title of 'senior advocate' to lawyers.

"The title may be awarded under very strict criteria this time," a source at the SC told Republica. "The full court meeting is considering to set such criteria for conferring the title of senior advocate to lawyers," he added. The apex court may seek formal application from the eligible candidates before taking a decision.

A high-level committee led by Supreme Court Justice Ishwor Prasad Khatiwada recently recommended 21-point criteria for conferring this title to avoid controversy.
