KATHMANDU, March 17 -- The Supreme Court (SC) has dismissed the habeas corpus petition on behalf of former Home Secretary Tek Narayan Pandey seeking relief from what he insists to be an unlawful detention. He was jailed for further investigation in the fake Bhutanese refugee case.
A division bench of justices Kumar Chudal and Mahesh Sharma Paudel on Monday dismissed the petition filed by Pandey's wife, Manju Pandey.
Police had arrested Pandey on May 3 on the charge of being involved in illegally sending Nepalis as Bhutanese refugees to the USA. On June 15, 2024, the Kathmandu District Court ordered him, along with 16 others, to be remanded in custody for further investigation.
