Nepal, April 18 -- Claims amounting to more than Rs 45 million have been filed with insurance companies for the damage inflicted on private properties during the violent pro-monarchy protest in Tinkune area of the capital on March 28.

According to the Nepal Insurance Authority (NIA), claims worth a total of 45.96 million have been submitted to 12 different life insurance companies.

According to the NIA, so far, only Rs 3.33 million of the claims has been paid out by four companies. Among them, Shikhar Insurance has paid all the claims submitted to its company. A total of Rs 498,000 in claims was submitted to the insurance company.
