KATHMANDU, Nov. 1 -- The government has introduced fees for registering and renewing online media outlets.

According to the newly amended Printing and Publication (Second Amendment) Rules, 2082 BS, online media outlets will have to pay Rs 5,000 for registration and Rs 2,500 for renewal. The notification was published in the Gazette on October 30.

A cabinet meeting held on September 25 had authorized the Director-General of the Department of Information and Broadcasting to act as the local authority for registering online media under the Printing and Publication Act, 2048 BS.
