Nepal, March 23 -- Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) delivered a spectacular performance in the opening match of the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL), defeating defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by 7 wickets on Saturday.
At Eden Gardens Stadium in Kolkata, RCB chased down a target of 175 runs in 16.2 overs, losing 3 wickets. Virat Kohli remained unbeaten on 59 runs, while captain Rajat Patidar scored 34 runs off 16 balls and Phil Salt made 56 runs off 31 balls. For KKR, Varun Chakravarthy, Vaibhav Arora, and Sunil Narine each took one wicket, but their efforts were not enough to secure a win.
