Nepal, Feb. 1 -- Pulses worth Rs 7.64 billion have been imported through Birgunj during the first six months of the current Fiscal Year (FY) 2025/26, according to customs officials. The imports include seven different types of pulse-based food items.
During the first six months of the previous FY, pulses worth Rs 5.83 billion were imported through Birgunj. In contrast, imports during the corresponding period this FY reached Rs 7.64 billion.
According to customs data, lentils accounted for the largest share of imports, with lentils worth Rs 3.82 billion imported during the review period. Similarly, beans and kidney beans worth Rs 1.17 billion were imported.
