Nepal, April 30 -- Supporters of Resham Chaudhary, founder of the Nagarik Unmukti Party (NUP), have begun to stage protests against the government following his arrest on Wednesday.

He was taken into custody by plainclothes police officers while attending a unification event with Janamat Party at Nepal Academy Hall in Kamaladi, Kathmandu.

His supporters staged protests at the venue following the arrest, chanting strong slogans against the government.
