JHAPA, Nov. 8 -- Two separate fire incidents occurred in Jhapa district recently, causing significant damage to property.

On November 7, 2024, at around 8:30 pm, a fire broke out at the residence of Shiva Lal Gautam in Pyakurel Chowk, Ward 8, Birtamod Municipality. The fire started from a room with cement walls and a tin roof, quickly spreading to the kitchen. Two gas cylinders exploded, and a gas stove, kitchenware, grains, one scooter, and part of the southern veranda of the house were all severely damaged. The estimated loss from the fire is around Rs 1 million.
