Nepal, April 11 -- Nepal Police have arrested royalist protest leader Durga Prasai, who had been on the run after leading a violent demonstration in Kathmandu two weeks ago.

A special police team arrested Prasai from Kakarbhitta border point in Jhapa with the help of Indian police. He was formally handed over to Nepal Police in the presence of legal experts, human rights activists and diplomatic representatives.

Prasai, who was hiding in India since the violent protest on March 28, has been brought to Jhapa, according to police sources. He will be flown to Kathmandu later today.
